Spoke too soon, could be BT-14 /droop cowling, NOT A-T 6!!!!

It's a BT-14.

If you look at Sturm78's photo, you can see the landing gear are fully enclosed by spats, so you know that the landing gear does not retract. So it is not an AT-6/SNJ.

Further, there is no small scoop on top of the engine cowling, therefore it is not a BT-9.

RE Sturm78 on 23 Jul 2011 17:00 The aircraft in construction is a Vultee A31 vemgance. This type was not used operationally by the US but was used in signifient numbers by the British(Australian Air Force) in th e far east. The clue is in the landing gear which turns 90 degrees and retracts rearward as in a P 40.
