My grandfather died in 1988 when I was 15. At that time in my life I was'nt really interested in the history of WWII. He served in the Europeon Theater. The only thing I know about his tour of duty was what I was told. I also have a few medals that were brought back with him. At one time I also had a ring that he had givin my grandmother, she had given it to me. I told her to hold on to it, anyway it was stolen by a care giver. Can anyone dirrect me to a site so that I might find some information on my grandfathers military record? his name was Virgil Lee Lester from Indiana

I know of a place but I have to find it again, it may be a good start for finding information. The important things for you to find if you are serious about finding out about his history are the following:

His Unit Name/Number.
Places he server towns he may have mentions etc.
Year he server or years.

If you can find out these things then it will help you a great deal. If I can not find the web site then I know I have the address you can write to and they can help you with this information, it is some veterans group.

I will try to find that web site.
