Good morning all,

Above human-interest article about a participant in Operation Fortitude.

Note reference to artillery training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The area was still farmland.

Article mentions Calais, France.

I believe it's fully clarified re the lore surrounding General Patton's 2 pistols - both not .45 automatics nor pearl handles. I forgot specifics but readily available info.

Patton had a Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .45 long Colt chambering with Ivory Grips and a buttswivel. it was a 4-3/4Inch barreled version nickle plated and engraved

His other revolver was a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum Model 27 with ivory grips(A rarity in those days as it was quite expensive and only recently was offered in 1934)

Good morning Line,

Appreciate addition to thread.

Patton's revolvers give insight to his persona. Engraving is a form of art.

Hi South,

Indeed, but I think his favoured art form was self-promotion, for which the pistols were useful props!

Cheers,

Sid.

His SAA wasnt just for show, He shot several of Pancho Villa's men with it as a Officer in the Punitive expedition

Many Generals had the same idea

Iron Tits Ridgeway with his 2 Mk II Pineapple grenades on his suspenders
Gavin with his Garand
Lucian Truscotts Leather flying jacket
Rommel with his British anti gas Goggles
Monty's deliberate use of civilian clothing, his double badged beret
MacArthur's Heavily Tarnished Khaki Service cap
