Cal .30 ammunition - Ball & AP ratio

I've been looking recently at ammunition allowances for US Army small arms.

FM 101-10 of June 1941 includes a table showing 'Infantry ammunition allowances for mobilization (from table of basic allowances dated 19th Nov 1940)'. Admittedly these figures are very early but I've not been able to find any of the later editions of the same FM that are a click away. For almost all types of .30-cal weapon firing the 30-06 round the ratio is given as; 70% ball, 20% tracer and 10% AP (armor piercing).

For the BAR in Rifle Platoons this changes to; 85% ball, 10% tracer and 5% AP. BARs issued for AA defence are on the 70/20/10 split.

Later figures I've seen for 1943 and 1944, including Units of Fire, show the M1 rifle, the BAR and the various .30-cal MGs all with a straightforward split of 80% AP and 20% tracer.

My question then is had the US Army stopped using .30-cal ball ammunition in its rifles and machine guns by mid to late 1943?

Thanks,

Gary
