Currently, 928 non-financial US companies have accumulated $ 1.685 trillion in cash reserves. This is 8% of US GDP and the equivalent of 55% of US investment value.
What were the values in 1929 and 1973?

For example, in the eighties Ford Motor Company raised $ 11 billion

Tough one. For a truly meaningful answer you might want to search elsewhere. Even if a good answer turns up here a comparison with other sources would be a good idea.

I can say the real value of cash reserves, or any asset changes significantly according to a variety of economic conditions. Deflation in the 1930s altered the value of cash vs periods of stability or inflation.
