Germans in US forces

hi
how many (approximately) US-citizens of German heritage served in US forces during the war? were they send to the european front, or pacific? and what happened with members of such organisations like German American Bund? Do they served in army?

Both. My father & two cousins served in the ETO. Three other cousins served in the PTO. In the Great War several of the older cousins served in France. One returned with his lungs badly damaged by gas & he died young in the 1920s. In the local German-Catholic cemetery there are a dozen or so young men of German decent of who immigrated as children & died in service in the Great War. The senior immigrant in the US Army was Lt Gen Kruger who was born in Plattesburg Germany & arrived in the US at age 11. He served from the Spanish American War to 1946 & commanded the 6th Army in the South Pacific and on Luzon.

and what happened with members of such organisations like German American Bund? Do they served in army?
Yes. They were only excluded from service if there was legal action pending, or other exceptional cases.
