WW II Armor Vehicles still in use?

Post by Delta Tank » 27 Aug 2021 14:30

To all,

Are there any countries today that are still using any American made or designed armor vehicles? And if not when was the last vehicle used by what country. I know the M-4, M-24 and M-36 had long lives in other armies.

Hello,
Until recently, you still had M24s in service with the Thai army, not to mention a few T. 34s in the West coast of Africa. I remember having observed CV 33 caterpillars of Italian origin in Afghanistan. It was in 2010 near Kabul and served as decorum at the entrance to an ANA base (I'm not even talking about the 8.8 cm Flak. 18 pieces present in the original boxes on site. !!!!!!). Definitely an other time.!!

Check on the Chilean Army. In the 1990s they had a US tank chassis fitted with a modern cannon. Those might still be around.

They were gone by the turn of the new century.

Paraguay retired the last of their Sherman's in 2018.

The Oslo Unit of the Norwegian Home Guard scrapped their last White M 3 Scout Cars as late as the early 1990s.

The British army fired its last 25 pounder guns in the field role in 1992 and retired the 5.5 inch Gun in 1995. IRRC someone was still using German medium artillery in the Syrian civil war.

About the last post, you had a video with a 10,5 cm LE.FH 18/40 used by some anti-gouvernemental militias. A small quantity of STG.44 were also seen in this country, used by the same persons.
