Building The First US Military Railroad Bridge Across The Rhine - 1945

The attached article describes the construction of the US Army’s first railway bridge across the Rhine at the end of March 1945. The work was performed by the Army Engineer Battalions and units of the US Army's Railroad Operating Battalions and required considerable work including reconstruction of the connecting railway lines. The original article was printed in the April 28, 1945 edition of the USA railroad industry magazine 'Railway Age’.

Due to this site’s limitation of the attachment file size I had to break up each page into separate attachments. I will post the remaining pages in a separate posts shortly.

This article was a difficult one to copy due to the large size of the original bound volume of Railway Age. I hope the quality of my copies will not make these difficult to read.
