I am looking for someone who can identify the location of a picture taken in Bamberg, Germany, in April 1945, as the US Army occupied the city. Someone who is familiar with the city could probably recognize this street. I found the photo in the Signal Corps collection in the National Archives.
Please write me at [email protected] .
Thanks,
Geoff Walden

Hello Geoff,
I from Germany, especally Bavaria and was an inhabitant of Bamberg (Germany) for five years during my youth. Maybe I can help identify the location on the photo.
Please send it to me via email. I´ll do my best.

By the way: In december 03 I´ve post in the forum a story about my mad geographic teacher as 15 year old Wehrmachts-member in April ´45. He was also from Bamberg and he should defend Bamberg, when the US-troops reached the city, but as a clever boy he didn´t.
Best wishes and many greetings
