zeemacht,

Apparently it is held at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) here in Ottawa. For 1943/07-1944/10 and 1944/11-1945/09 they are in file R112-135-3-E, based on the search I ran at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/lac- ... nguage=eng. I'm not sure if they're on paper or microfilm, but apparently they're not accessible online. LAC is well behind other national archives when it comes to digitizing its holdings. For WW2 I've never found anything online except photos, where the situation is a bit better. It looks like there are about 40 for the Regiment de la Chaudière, e.g., the one at http://collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_arch ... a132463-v6

You could perhaps also contact Musée Le Régiment de la Chaudière (see http://www.tourismelevis.com/en/activit ... chaudiere/).

Dear Rob, thanks for your quick reply !

I'm looking for information on ARMAND LACHANCE, I only have his date of death, we don't know the circumstances and the exact location. October 25th 1944 was during operation Switchback, seen the direction the regiment took could it have been in the neighbourhood of WATERLANDKERKJE or OOSTBURG.

I'm gone try my luck at the Museum or the LAC.

Thanks again for your help

Frank.

Well, the LAC does has a tool you can use to search for info on war dead: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/data ... 0.01-e.php. It gave me the following on Pte Lachance:

Name: LACHANCE, ARMAND
Age: 22
Date of Birth: 20 May 1922
Date of Death: 25 Oct 1944
Rank: Private
Unit: Le Regiment de la Chaudiere, R.C.I.C.
Force: Army
Service Number: D46974
Reference: RG 24
Volume: 26289
Extra Information: Son of Adolphe and Victoria Lachance.

I have no idea what additional info might be in file RG 24 Volume 26289 but perhaps it will say where he was killed.

Bon chance,

Rob

Zeemacht, there are copies of the Canadian war diaries in the British National Archives. These are the references for Regiment de la Chaudiere's diaries:

WO 179/407, Le Regt. de la Chaudiere (1941 July - Dec.)
WO 179/1225, Le Regt. de la Chaudiere (1942 Jan. - Dec.)
WO 179/1986, Le Regt. de la Chaudiere (1943 Jan.- Dec.)
WO 179/2941, Le Regt. de la Chaudiere (1944 Jan.-Dec.)
WO 179/5615, 3 Regt. de la Chaudiere (1946 Jan.- Apr.)

Regards,

Lee

My father drove a landing craft on D-day delivering troops from the Regiment de la Chaudiere to Berneires Sur Mer Beach. He wrote an account of it for the 50th anniversary and I would be happy to share it with any interested parties. Is there an email or web address that is specific to people interested in researching this regiment?
