Royal Navy Pay 1938?

Post by jdwright » 10 Aug 2020 16:51

I found a pay chart from 1938 for the Royal Navy and Marines. The chart says daily rate of pay, I can't figure out how to add Pounds, Shillings and Pence. Would someone be kind enough to show me how it's done?

pounds, shillings and pence or LSD

12 old (pre decimalisation) pence = 1 shilling.
20 shillings = 1 pound

I made a mistake, instead of adding British Pounds, Shillings and Pence, I should've asked what the exchange rate for 7GBP, 4 Shillings, 10 Pence was to the U.S. Dollar on April 1, 1938?
My apologies for the screw up.
