Hiya,

i`m working on my WW2 Encyclopedia file as usual and currently running through 76mm calibre guns.

Then there is one thing i can`t find any detailed information about, which is the british 3-Inch Howitzer
mounted in Close Support Vehicles. I can`t find the fully detailed designation, bore length, shell used,
weight of shell, muzzle velocity, range, etc.

Here`s what i got so far:

http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/ammotable9.htm
METRIC DESIGNATION: 76.2 x 134R
RIM DIAMETER : 91
NATIONALITY : UK
PROJECTILE KG : ?
VELOCITY : ?
NAME / WEAPONS : WW2 3 inch howitzer Mk 1, CS AFV

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenanter_tank
Covenanter Mk I CS - Armed with 3-inch howitzer. CS stands for close support.
Covenanter Mk II CS - Armed with 3-inch howitzer.
Covenanter Mk III CS - Armed with 3-inch howitzer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusader_tank
Crusader I CS (Cruiser Mk VI CS) (Close Support) mounted a 3 inch howitzer in the turret instead of the 2-pounder.
Crusader II CS (Cruiser Mk VIA CS) mounted a 3 inch howitzer in the turret.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Churchill_tank
Churchill I (303)
Equipped with a 2 pounder gun in the turret (150 rounds), and a coaxial Besa machine gun. There was a 3 inch howitzer in the hull (58 rounds). It was a tank that was noted for poor mechanical reliability. It was the main tank issued to the Canadian forces at Dieppe.

The Churchill I, therefore was armed with a 2-pdr gun in the turret with a co-axial 7.92mm Besa machine gun. To supplement this, a 3-inch howitzer, capable of firing a heavy High Explosive round was mounted in the hull. This provided the tank with the ability to take on enemy bunkers, and other hardened targets. As these were immobile, mounting the howitzer in the hull should not prove to much of a disadvantage.

So can anyone tell me about:

- Full designation of this Gun
- Barrel length
- Shell Weight (complete, projectile)
- Filler Weight
- Muzzle Velocity
- Range

Thanks for your help

Both were as follows
