Re: Id. british gun
Hi Sturm78 ...
The Mk.19 had a shorter barrel and the recuperator under it ...
Its only my 2 cents
in my opinion it is an old 6in Mk.VII, that fight a lot during WW1 ...an 152mm 6in Mk.19 gun in position in East Coast of Scotland in 1940, according to photocaption

Re: Id. british gun
Unfortunately no, sturmAny idea about the gun posted on 10 apr ???
I can try to search something in my no so big collection of photo and book for found an answer ...
In a first look it seem a 4in caliber AA gun, but its only a first feeling... The British 4in gun that I know have a recuperator over the barrel ... that here is missing ...
Only for brain storming , the mount is similar to 3in 20cwt AA gun, but the barrel seem a little bit thicker and too long...
If I found something I inform you...
P.S.: Sorry if my english isn't everytime grammatically correct; I'm not a english man ...

Well, I am searching for information and/or wartime image of 20mm Polsten AA gun. I have found very few information about this gun on the net and almost no wartime image...
Here, an image of one of these guns on a boat (from AWM):

Re: Id. british gun
9.45 in How were purchased by UK for use in the Boer War. They do not seem to have been used in WW1.
It gets no mention on my web site http://nigelef.tripod.com/fc_1914-18.htm

Re: Id. british gun
A bit more information. Four 9.45 were acquired, the purpose was the expected need to reduce the forts defending Pretoria. The guns reached S Africa, and the challenges of moving them across underdeveloped country proved fairly demanding. However, the Boers surrendered and the guns were not required.
