There was a universal mount for the Polsten, Hispano and Oerlikon guns.Sturm78 wrote:Nobody for the 20mm Polsten ??
Well, I hope to have more lucky with this other light AA gun. Any information and/or wartime image of the 20mm Hispano AA gun?
Used this gun the same mount that the Polsten gun ??

Re: Id. british gun
The image title dates it as September 1946...........
So 16 months after VE Day and 13 months after VJ Day, but given design and construction time, probably dating to wartime in concept.

Re: Id. british gun
I wonder how much it weighed....
Re: Id. british gun
Take a close look at the guns, these are water cooled. This mount would have been heavy, but also very, very deadly. It could, in effect, fire as long as you have ammo being fed into it, without reaching a hot gun situation or burning out a barrel. Your loaders may well fail before the mount does. This is an impressive piece of gear.

Re: Sturm78 » 02 Jul 2016, 12:18 The picture is a RP 50 Mk VI mounting intended for large warships. Its weight was 21.24 tons. As suspected it went into service post WW II. Found it in: "Naval Weapons of WWII", JOHN CAMPBELL, NAVAL INSTITUTE PRESS, 1985 Page 71.

Re: Id. british gun
The white NCOs are wearing bush hats which indicates they are on tropical service, as far as I am aware the bush hat was not worn in Italy. It could be a gun almost anywhere in the British Empire defending an important city, port or military base.gambadier wrote:Re HAA gun, IRC two HAA Regts manned by African troops served in Italy.
