Baron,
I think that the first one gives it selves
being named 1945 5 7. The second one I believe is taken on the 12th of June 1944 on Churchill's one day trip to France.

Tom,
You are correct. It can't have taken on 12th June as Tac HQ II Cdn Corps wasn't established in Normandy until the end of June 1944. My mistake.
I also think that your are correct about the dates. It was the trip that Brooke forced Monty to invite the PM on.
Kind Regards

Who are they?
I believe the one on the right is Field Marshal Alan Brooke again, the CIGS. On the left is Field Marshal John Dill, Head of the British Joint Staff Mission to the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Brooke's predecessor as CIGS.

On q1 we have Marshal of the RAF Charles Portal and Admiral of the Fleet Dudley Pound. The general with Montgomery is Francis de Guingand, his CoS.
