Thanks Steen.

So we still lack of the pic of A E Barstow during WW 2..
Why don't you write a snail mail to his old Regiment at The Sikh Regimental Centre, Ramgarh Cantonment, Jharkhand, India?or viaq their facebookm page

His regiment is very proud of their heritage under British command and may have a photograph of one of their old boys.

Hi, does someone knows these 21st Army Group officers (apart from Montgomery)? The pic was taken at surrender ceremony on 4 May 1945.

Hello,
This is a Gettyimage taken in 1944.
ENGLAND - AUGUST 06: A Kodachrome colour photograph of a veteran soldier, taken by JCA Redhead (1886-1954) during World War Two. The soldier wears the scarlet dress uniform of an officer in The Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment, the senior line regiment of the British Army. The medals on his chest show that he is a veteran of World War One. He also proudly wears the Distinguished Service Order medal.

What rank is he? I didn't know the uniform before.
Thanks!

Can anyone help identify this officer please

Post by Ian Sayer » 03 Jun 2021 14:39

Can anyone identify this officer please. It's a 1943 photo and may have been taken in North Africa. The signature appears to read K R Norman but I may be reading the initials incorrectly. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Ian
