Hello and first best regards from Slovenija, little country near Austria and Italy! :D

I am looking for any informations about Lt. Boyd D.N. from 5 Sqd SAAF.

His plane MUSTANG IVA KH 705 was hit by flak over Yugoslavia
on date 2.4.1945 and pilot bailed out.
I don;t know, if it is true, that his plane was crashed near town Zrece, Yugoslavia (today Slovenia) if the pilot survived etc

On the other side...
according to the book "85 years of the SAAF" by Winston Brent was
KH705 - Mustang IVA, 5 Squadron - hit by flak, abandoned neir Leibnitz Austria.

For any further informations i will be greatful.

The Commonwealth War Graves site lists only one South African called Boyd as being killed, but though flying in the SAAF, his death was in January 1945, so outside your timeframe. He is buried in Forli (Italy).

Maybe this person and the one your searching for were somehow related, brother etc perhaps

Hi Nigel

Thank you for your post.

The thread author hasn't been on the site since Oct'10, so it maybe best if you emailed him in the first instance. You can access his email address by clicking on his name in the post above yours.

Good luck

Andy H

Since Mr. Nigel's email seems not valid anymore this case still needs to clarified. Could anyone help? Thanks a lot - K.
