Best acessable sources for identifying the locations of the components of 21 AG on or about 1 September 1944? I need a quick but accurate list of locations for the divisions & other major parts of the AG.

Thanks

Try Library of Congress map section online - the Normandy campaign maps are for 12th Army Group but they do have locations for British divisions

1 September is interesting as almost all the US divisions are off the map eastward :D

For what it's worth, Dieppe was captured by 2nd Canadian division on Sept 1st, while 49th West Riding, 51st Highland and elements of British 79th Armored divisions launched Operation Astonia (capture of Le Havre) on Sept 10-12th.

How about these? The first situation map has details known at 0600 hours 1 September but covers the situation at 12.00 31 August

IIRC these came from the papers on 21 Army Group in the national Archive

Thanks. The maps were immensely helpful. They also give some indication of the area the German 15th Army still had available for movement that day.
