I am interested in this Norwegian Officer who fought with his own forces in 1940 and then won the MC was a platoon commander in 4 KSLI in 1944. However my question isn't related to his service but rather to his name. He was born into the family called Kvitnes, but his birthplace was Bratland. Was the name Bratland a nom-de-guerre? If so I cannot understand why his siblings are also called Bratland.

regards

Keith
