Question on HMS Queen Eagle, auxiliary AA ship

#1

Post by PT Dockyard » 15 Dec 2018, 18:05

In researching the HMS Queen Eagle (Former Empress Queen) I cannot seem to find any listing of armament while she was an AA ship. Pictures show a 2pdr pom-pom fore and aft but anything else in indistinct. Can anyone provide further details?

Thanks,

Hi Dave

Lenton lists the following:-
4x2Pdr (4x1)
16x.303in AA (4x4)
5x.5in AA (5x1)
2x.303in AA machine (2x1) guns.
4x3in (1x4) rocket projectors.

In 1941 three Bolton & Paul turrets and the machine guns were replaced by 5x20mm AA (5x1) guns

Regards

Andy H
