Can anyone share when the Royal Marine Battalion was alerted to be sent to China in January 1927. Reports say that it was 1,000 strong. and boarded the Minnesota on January 25th and departed Southampton on the 26th and arrived at Shanghai on March 21st. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Jerry

Of some help and interest I hope

27th January. Portsmouth gave a splendid send-off to a 1.000 Royal Marines who had been selected for service in China.
They embarked on the Transport Minnesota which left the next day. A contingent of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps from Hilsea Barracks also left for the same destination. https://portsmouthdockyard.org.uk/timel ... e-send-off
