I am trying to get exact dates of promotion to Acting Lieutenant-Colonel (May 1917) and substantive Lieutenant-General (December 1940) for Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander.

23 Sep 1911: 2nd Lieutenant
5 Dec 1912: Lieutenant
15 Nov 1914: Temporary Captain
7 Feb 1915: Captain
10 Dec 1916: Acting Major
May 1917: Acting Lieutenant-Colonel
1 Aug 1917: Major
15 Oct 1917: Acting Lieutenant-Colonel
14 May 1922: Lieutenant-Colonel
1 Feb 1928: Colonel (backdated to 14 May 1926)
13 Oct 1934: Temporary Brigadier
16 Oct 1937: Major-General
13 Jul 1940: Acting Lieutenant-General
Dec 1940: Lieutenant-General
17 Jan 1942: General
4 Jun 1944: Field Marshal

1 Nov 1915 Relinquishes the Temporary rank of Major
10 Dec 1916 Acting Major
3 Mar 1917 Acting Lieutenant-Colonel
22 May 1917 Relinquishes the Acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel
1 Aug 1917 Major
15 Oct 1917 Acting Lieutenant-Colonel
19 Dec 1919 Relinquishes the Acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel
14 May 1922 Lieutenant-Colonel
1 Feb 1928 Colonel (backdated to 14 May 1926)
13 Oct 1934 Temporary Brigadier
16 Oct 1937 Major-General
8 Jun 1940 Acting Lieutenant-General
1 Jul 1940 Lieutenant-General (backdated to 13 Jul 1938)
17 Jan 1942 General
