What's the HMS Royal Oak pennat number or letter?

Post by lesm » 09 Feb 2021 22:46

I'm trying to find the pennant number of the HMS Royal Oak (Class: Revenge) sunk by Gunther Prien in Scapa Flow. No luck.
Is it possible that this capital ship never had a pennant number assigned?

However, they never did anything so vulgar as to have it painted on the hull - that was for lesser ships!

Thanks Waleed Y. Majeed. The other one I have missed is the Iron Duke. Please let me know source too, if you don't mind.

Hi lesm

Iron Duke pendant number was 18.

After WW1 Pendant numbers were allocated on a random basis to confuse the enemy and also numbers were re-used if a ship was sunk or cancelled.
