First was it never changed from a 500 year old medevial Design?
Second why was it never developed like the german coal shuttle helmet...which at least gave direction to the back of the neck?

First, it wasn't the same/ it was different (sorry your English isn't great and your wording is a bit confusing). You can also find old drawings that look like German ww1/2 helmets.

The Brodie was designed to be made in a single pressing, simplifying production and avoiding the brittleness of multi press helmets like, for example, the German one.

Second, it was developed. The late WW2 style was different. The WW1 era helmets were designed to protect against shrapnel (you might want to google what shrapnel i.e. not shell splinters are). Shrapnel comes down from above, and often, the front. Neck protection was more a concern in WW2 by when fuses had improved i.e. shells detonating nearer the surface of the ground.

The Brodie is a Kettle Hat and the German helmet an Open Face Sallet. Both are very old designs.
