Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can identify this flag ?

Used on a British Army Crossley Tender in Ireland during the Irish War of Independence.

I'm not sure if this helps. In 'Armoured and Heavy Vehicles of the RUC' by David Dunne on page 22 one of the captions explains (small) union flags were carried on vehicles operating along the Irish Border. The accompanying photos feature Crossley Tenders

Just saw your reply now - thanks for that. I will keep an eye out for that book. I have a few other War of independence era related photo books but no joy on that particular flag. To my eyes it kind of feels like it could be a Royal Navy flag of some sort but who knows.
