Hello, everyone!

I'm looking for strength list of Foot Guards battalions as of 30.9.1940 according to "General Return of the Strength of the British Army as of 30 September 1940".

Many thanks in advance

Here you are. Most of the Foot Guards were in and around London at the time. The Holding and Training Battalions are mostly well over establishment strength, which is in line with the general situation; under great pressure to “do something” the government had overthrown the existing plans for a gradual build-up of the army and called up much larger numbers of conscripts after Dunkirk. Net growth of the army was 159,993 in June and 155,918 in July, after which the numbers went down again: 79,118 in August and 48,493 in September.
Part of the Training Battalion of the Irish Guards was at Dover (Citadel and Grand Shaft Barracks) where they were assigned an active role in case of invasion.
