The last surviving WW2 member of 617 Squadron has died. Johnny Johnson was a bomb aimer who took part in the famous Dam Busters raids of 1943.

He was 101.

Of the 133 airmen who participated in the raids, 53 were killed and another 3 captured. A total of 8 Lancaster bombers were shot down. An extremely heavy price to pay.

Johnny was one of the lucky survivors and obviously went on to lead a great life after the war was over.
