Fall Of Rangoon - Burma 1941 & 1942

Post by Richard Stone » 20 Feb 2023 18:27

The attached article, written by a US Army participant in the battle in 1943, discusses the British and Japanese actions, the conditions and the battles that resulted in the loss of city as the writer experienced it. It also mentions the supplies sent to the Chinese armed forces and the American Volunteer Group (AVG) through Rangoon prior to its fall.

The article is a war time document and contains inaccuracies since the writer had limited access to the British records and no access to Japanese records.

It was printed in the June 1943 edition of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

I posted this article in the site’ section 'WW2 in the Pacific & Asia’. I’ve reposted it here to aid researchers of the British Commonwealth forces.
