Agree competely.

Britain has showed over and over again what real alliance means. Sometimes i wonder is there a country in world who really deserves to have Brits as their allies....

Cool flag ?
er ok
personally I can't stand the Union Jack.
its ugly and looks really tacky - though ive never been one for liking many flags etc anyway.

It looks dreadful on those little flags you see at street parties.

I dont think its tacky.

The tackiest flags are US state flags. Some look OK, like Florida's. But most look silly, like Ohio's and California's.

We trusted the Brits too, when they let Singapore fall to the Japs and got their arse's out of there, while they left thousands of Anzac's on thier own to face the full brunt because there 'wasn't sufficient room' on their ships. Still seen as convicts I spose... Adam

French were disbanded in May 40, as where Belgian and Nederland troups.

Not the entire Dutch Army was disbanded in May 1940. On this two pictures which I want to share with you is seen the uncle of my mother who was a sergeant in the KNIL (Dutch East Indies Army) which fought against the Japanese in 1941 and 1942. Pictures are from before the outbreak of war.

Lord Gort, fat businessmen & US entry in WW2

Post by varjag » 12 Jan 2003, 05:57

Pardon me Lord Gort, but what profits were there to be made outta Britain in December 41? I thought Britain was financially bankrupt at least several months before the US came into the war.

Thanks, Andy. U are right. The biggest cost for the Germans was cracking Enigma :D and the Poles gave the informations for the British. If they had not done it the Allied casualties would have been MUCH MORE bigger. The Germans will also remember battle of Monte Cassino for long time.

I think the British introduced modern stucture of brigades during WW II, which is basic now.

Yep, nothing wrong in that, Britain survived, Germany didn't.

I think you may be wrong on that point, only in the fact that the Brigade structure was around in WW1, and as to which country could lay claim to its introduction is open to debate.
