Does anyone know the name of the soldier who won the VC at Arnhem? it was on the BBC recently with Jeremy Clarkson. I missed it but my dad was explaining how he won it, the guy sounded pretty impressive!

There were five VCs awarded for bravery at Arnhem. Try http://www.victoriacross.net

It's a great site....you'll spend hours there.

Hope this helps,
Dwight

Yes, a very brave man. Also had the rare human quality called modesty. His daughter (who Clarkson married) only found out about the VC was after his death. I'm not embarrassed to say I nearly had a weep for the guy. Here is a link that describe his action with more depth.
