Here is a few pics from the Haida a Tribal class destroyer.

As I stated some of her record I will repeat a little here:

The Haida the ship that sank more enemy vessels than any other Canadain ship is preserved but the hull is gradly rotting away. She needs something like a five million dollar dry docking to save her.

Now that would be a shame, she was on the missions to Murmansk, she went was on the operation which ulitmatly sunk Scharnhorst, she ran the Germans ragid off of the French coast before and after Normandy.

There is one time a British commander who was in charge had to order her to quit firing on her enemy, even though the enemy was
finished. Then she served in Korea.
There she was know for running in close to shore for gun support.

The Pics are of the breeches of B turret. Amazing how small they are even though the gun on a tank would be big. The 17 pdr or 76.2 mm has a massive breech.

The secound pic is looking forward at A and B turrets.

The third is a port side twin 20 mm.

And the last is a 37 mm mount.

That ship was the scourge of the North Atlantic Wolfpacks.

Its been said that HMCS Haida's crew was exceptionally ruthless. (probably out of fear)

Just before D-day, Haida and other DD's were clearing the channel of German patrol ships. The Captain of the Haida like to bombard the German ships until they sank! Setting them ablze and rendering them useless was not enough, he had to see them go down.

The RN/RCN commanders got very upset at this, because it wasted time and ammunition.

Ill have to see that ship if I ever get to T.O.

Perhaps a petition could be sent to the Ministry of Veteran's Affairs to convince the guv. to save it. Or the ppl of T.O could chip in.
