A near miss but you are almost on the target.
Happy new year to you too.

Hello happy gate-crasher :P
US Military Mission to Moscow. Not a fighting unit, as I told Aleks: they dealt with Lend-Lease questions (and maybe a little bit of spying too, in the Land of the Soviets ....)

Hello!
This woman seems to be christening the ship.
Does you question has something to do with the ship, ship's name or the woman herself? (Just a try to find an easy way to answering this question :D )

Best reagrds, Aleks

Both in a sense...
The ship actually bears her surname.

The uniform might help.

Sergeant Lena Basilone christening the USS Basilone (her husband captain Basilone has been KIA in early 1945).
She was born Lena Riggi: typically Italian surnames, must I say.

Right on all accounts but the Captain bit...
He was a highly decorated (Medal of Honor and posthumously Navy Cross) Gunnery Sergeant.

Watched one of the episodes of "The Pacific" with Jon Seda starring as John Basilone
getting involved with his later wife, Sgt. Lena Mae Basilone, USMC(WR) and couldn't resist
posting... not him but her :D

And of course, all yours next iffig.

I don't know where this rank of captain mistake comes from .....
But don't they call Gunnery Sergeants "Sir" in the USMC? At least it is a memory from "Full Metal Jacket" (maybe a mistake too....).
:)
Now, identify these artillery tractors (and the guns if you can, but there is a doubt, at least in my mind).
Notice the proud atillerymen riding the gun barrels!

International TD-18.

According to my photo-archives, a gun is almost certainly 155mm M.1918 long gun (GPF).

You are absolutely right as for the tractor. As for the gun, I was hesitating between 155 mm 1917 and M1918M1 on M2 mount.
Over to you anyway.

Hmmm... I think your photo shows some earlier, my photo some later variant of GPF in US service.

Next question - another vehicle to ID:

Hi Edge:

Just to keep a hand in the game, I believe your truck is a Saurer but I am not sure which model.
I will revert when I can find better in information if someone does not post the complete correct answer.
