In 1986 I published Adolf Galland's revised The First and the Last at Champlin Fighter Museum Press. Dolfo commented that while two of his first three victory claims on 12 May 40 were found in RAF records (apparently No. 41 Squadron) he wondered if the third Hurricane might have been Belgian. The details presented here indicate that unlikely but I would welcome any additional comments.

In continuing research I have not seen any sources that suggest any Belgian Hurricanes survived after May 11.

Looking through Cornwell's Battle of France Then and Now shows no Belgian Hurricanes lost on this date. The identification of the two RAF victims is problematic as 41 Squadron RAF flew Spitfires in WW2, not Hurricanes. So any Hurricanes lost have to be from another squadron.

On 30 December 1938, 41 Squadron was issued with the Supermarine Spitfire, becoming the third RAF squadron to receive them. By early February 1939, the Squadron had received a full complement of 20 Mark I Spitfires, at the cost of £129,130
