Hi all,

I found this image on Ebay showing another 21cm Morser abandoned during the May-June 1940 campaign: ???
Anyone used these ex-germans howitzers during this campaign. Who was it? :?

Here is another picture of the same Moerser. There's a sign above the door of the house on the left that says "gardien" (attendant/caretaker) in French. So it could be either in French-speaking Belgium or in France. If in France, it would have to be a remain of WW1. It looks indeed that the gun has been here a while.

Could this be some kind of war memorial?

Hi Aleks,

Probably yes. The Mörser recuperator appears to be out of gas and the tank in the back with no gun sponsons isn't up to scratch either.

Markus

Any idea how many of the Belgian 47mm antitank guns were captured by the Germans?

Hi all,

According to caption Belgium AA gun abandoned in 1940. I think 75mm Bourges-FRC Mle 1936 (french Mle1932)

Did they have any 20mm A-A/A-T guns?

From both lists of weapons used (including those captured by the Germans) and from lists of equipment issued to various types of belgian units according to their TOEs (infantry, cavalry and artillery), I am pretty happy in saying that no 20mm weapons were used by the Belgians in either an AT or AA role.

Thankyou for that. It clears up an argument with some friends.

I missed this post before
Just to summarize the Belgians A.T. capacity. They ONLY had their indigenous C47 and C60? No French or British A.T. guns? Did they have A.P. ammunition for the 40mm Bofors?
The Belgians had their C47 ATguns in field units and in some bunkers, the C60 only in fortifications.

No French or English AT guns or rifles were issued to Belgian units. The Belgian C47 was probably second only to the French 47mm AT gun in capability and was in plentiful supply.

The Bofors 40mm were used solely in an AA role and had no AP ammunition that I am aware of.
