Re: Yugoslav Partizan navy ships
NB-5 "Ivan" got me intrigued-
Is it USN SC-1 or just SC-1 class subchaser?
What was it's story from the beggining?
Specific armament in NOV service?
BTW PČ-26 "Zadar" has 20mm Breda AA-gun mounted.
BTW PČ-22 "Streljko" still exist in Split as a monument. I was asking about it's Scotti 20mm gun here:

Re: Yugoslav Partizan navy ships
NB-5 was just an SC-1 class subchaser. Unfortunately I don`t know wich one exactly. It was built in New Yersey in 1917, and sent to the Adriatic at the end of it. Later it was sold and turned into a passenger ship, and yust before war in Yugoslavia started into a fishing vessel. It was captured by Italians, when he was renamed "Gioovanni" with number 2003. In 1943 he was armed with several MG by Italians, who wanted to escape from Dalmacija to Italy with him. At first crew abandoned it, and then returned and disabled ship engines. After capitulation of Italy, ship was repaired and put in service, armed with 5 MG. Later it was rearmed with two 20 mm Breda AA canons and 6 8mm MG.TISO wrote:NB-5 "Ivan" got me intrigued-

Hello,
below one article by Dr. Zvonimir Freivogel aboaut Marshal Tito's coastal fleet. He is, unfortunately, in Polish, because I translated it for the Navy's magazine "Okręty Wojenne" from German. I work together with "O.W." from December 1991. source Okręty Wojenne, special issue No 4/2000 = No 45.
Regards Mischa

Thank You,it is very fine, You make some correction. Try it read perhaps, because Polish and Serbian are very similary. I worked some time ago in a forwardes firma C. Hartwig Katowice with a man which name was Mihajlović and when I`m asked he, where that name from, he answered me, his garndpa was a Serbian soldier, a later POW in Austria - Hungary and he stayed after I WW, where he was. And a second person was a woman, Pazarlijew, her man was a Serbian, and they lived in Kosovo, Pristina, but later they came to Poland, when the time were not so nice. She learned me the - dobro doshli? - but her answer sounded like - dobro venajde.Engine capo wrote:Thank you Mischa.

Re: Yugoslav Partizan navy ships
I regularly read Polish articles about Polish items in original, but reading about local affairs in Polish is somewhat surreal. (Actually less difficult venture.)Mischa wrote:Try it read perhaps, because Polish and Serbian are very similary.
Her surname sounds Bulgarian ("Macedonian").Mischa wrote: Pazarlijew... She learned me the - dobro doshli? - but her answer sounded like - dobro venajde.
First greeting (from host to the guest) is Serbian version of "wellcome".
Second greeting (responce of guest to the host) is "dobro vas nashli" ("well-found") or, more common, "bolje vas nashli" ("even-better-found").
"Dobro ve najde" is Bulgarian ("Macedonian") equivalent for the first responce ("dobro vas nashli").
In any case, Serbian vocabulary is full with words and phrases for family/guest/friend/celebration affairs, in contrast to themes like "work" or "responsibility". (If we don't count words with bad connotation. ).

Yes, that's a good one.Mischa wrote:Hello, I hope it is god (translator)
Only possible complaint might be that "then" ("oнда") is redundant in both English/Serbian.

Also on 5th scan you can see a bow of the MS ( Motorni Splav/ Motor Raft) which was actually a British “Cargo Lighter Ramped”. Partisan got 12 of them.

Thank You for the very good hint. It is impossible for me in that very big forum to find all about the Navies which I am interesting.
