Hello! Need some assistance with this photo:

- can anyone recognize what Cross is this together with Soviet medal?
- what rank indicates a star on his shoulder board?

I would say one star indicate podporucik - second lieutenant. Depends on which year picture was taken.

I am not sure but Soviet medal - just by ribbon, could be "Za odvagu" (For heroizm)

Hello Tapani and KACKO, many thanks for your comments! Soviet medal is "For Bravery", this is correct. I guess photo was taken about 1944-1945, there is text in Russian with a dedication to his Soviet friend.
