Hi Prosper thanks for the e-mails.
I thought that Chasseurs Ardennais divisions would both had full equipped artillery regiments, but as you said in you PM, the Chasseurs Ardennais artillery regiment was detached and sent to the 7th infantry.
This regiments was fully motorized and equipped with two battalions of 75mm Bofors mountain guns and two of 105mm field howitzers,.
Was this the only regiment of artillery which carried the name Chasseurs Ardennais?
Did these two Chasseurs Ardennais divisions have divisional logos? The regiments have a boars head.

Hello Ian,
No there were never divisional logos. Only the régiments have a logo with the boar and the belgian crown
like this for the 2° Regiment de Chasseurs Ardennais:

That's a great regimental logo Prosper, shame it was not a divisional level emblem, maybe I should just use the Belgian flag and add the number of each division as a header for my Belgian divisions.

The Belgian army used three types of HMG;

Maxim: active and 1st reserve divisions
Hotchkiss: Cavalry and Chasseurs Ardennais divisions
Colt: 2nd reserve divisions

But what type of HMG did the Cyclists and Gendarmerie regiments use?

Chasseur Ardennais were issued with initially with FN 1910-22 pistos lMauser Mle 1899 rifles, FN M30 machine guns and Hotchkiss heavy machine guns.

Later they were issued with Model 35 and 36 rifles, 9mm GP35s, FN M30 machine guns and Maxim heavy machine guns.
See Andre Alexander AMI35 Chasseur Ardennais
I was on a Belgian military site today and it mentioned about the 4th Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment having a 10th company and armed with FRCs, M79s and C47s.
Now I know what FRC and C47 are....but M79s?
The nearest I can think of would be the Mortier de 76 F.R.C. which I have come across being called an M76

But what type of HMG did the Cyclists and Gendarmerie regiments use?
Chasseur Ardennais mixed cyclist companies were issued with initially with FN 1910-22 pistos lMauser Mle 1899 rifles, FN M30 machine guns and Hotchkiss heavy machine guns.

Later they were issued with Model 35 and 36 rifles, 9mm GP35s, FN M30 machine guns and Maxim heavy machine guns.
See Andre Alexander AMI35 Chasseur Ardennais

Cycliste Frontiere companies used Maxims as their heavy machine guns and the Carabiniers Cyclists used the Hotchkiss as their heavy machine guns.

I have nothing definitive for the Gendarmerie Regiments. As they were not part of the Cavalry I would suggest the Maxim.

One question, would the battalions in the Chasseurs d’Ardennes divisions, be numbered?
Example;
1 to 9 (1st Division)
10 to 18 (2nd Division)
The battalions were not numbered in a separate sequence they were simply I, II and III battalion of each numbered regiment
