Journalist/historian Kathryn Tolbert provides some insight into Japanese war brides.

Note that her war bride mother "was duty bound to integrate as an American".

The mentioned Vassar College is "exclusive"; believe it is still listed as one of the "Seven Sisters" top of the line exclusive women's colleges in the US.
