Fascist groups that actively opposed the Nazis

Post by Komi » 02 Mar 2021 11:50

In Austria, the Fatherland Front government banned the Austrian Nazi Party and, at least under Dollfuss, was opposed to any attempt at annexation or union with Nazi Germany. What other examples can we find of ideologically fascist governments, political parties, or groups that actively opposed the Nazis? By "active" here I mean taking physical steps to resist them, not just rhetoric with no action to back it up.

The (small and illegal) Polish ONR-Falanga was (at least partially) a fascist party and impeccably anti-Nazi.

Interesting. Did they (or their members) participate in any of the wartime Polish resistance to Nazi occupation?

Yes, its members created Confederation of the Nation.
All the best known Falangists fought in the resistance (the less known, I suppose, too but it's hard to find reliable info about them), 40 percent of them were killed by the Nazis.

What regions of Poland were they primarily active in? And are there any estimates on their membership numbers during the war?

We don't even know their pre-war membership, it was maybe about 1000. They were young middle-class people mostly from Warsaw.
I suppose most of them joined the resistance - after they were Polish nationists first.
