Freedom or internment?

During WW2 any aircrew shot down or crash landing in Ireland were treated to slightly different hospitality. Alled crews were fed in hotels by the border and then passed across the border, into northern Ireland, and back into allied hands where they could rejoin the war effort.
Axis aircrews were interned. Conditions were good and the Germans liked their surroundings as their 'guards' were friendly and many settled here after the war.
