The midsummer crisis...

#1

The 22th of June 1941 was the date of German agression against the Sovietunion known as operation 'Barbarossa'. But at the same day, the german goverment handed in to the swedish goverment a request in which they demande to transport division 'Engelbreckt' from Norway into Finland. This request was supported by the finns aswell. There were rumors about the King, Gustav V to abdicate if the demands not were meet, and a crisis appeared and took place from the 22th to the 25th of June. During these days a total collaps of the Swedish goverment wasn't far away.

My question is; 'Did the king really threaten to abdicate?' And; 'Which role did Per Albin Hansson (swedish primeminister) have during the same period?'

I would also appreciate information about the 'prins' of Wied, german minister in Sweden, and Christian Günther, swedish foreign minister.

Thank you!
