From "Register of Commissioned and Warrant Officers of the United States Navy and Marine Corps and Reserve Officers on Active Duty - 1 January 1967"

Edward Jerome Rupnik, Captain USN(MC). Born 5 August 1924. Entered service 19 April 1948. 2100 (Medical Corps). American College of Surgeons. American Board of Surgery.

Don’t have the DOR for promotion to Rear Admiral, but DOR for Captain was 1 July 1965. He was in the 1944 year group (which coupled with a commissioning date in 1948 and a pay start date of 18 January 1943 means he went to medical school for the purpose of accepting a commission) which also means that he was probably promoted to Rear Admiral in 1971, 1972 or 1973 timeframe. I’ll see if I have a later Register around here somewhere that covers that period, but I think the newest one I have would be 1971. I’ll also check to see if I’ve any retired Flag Officer rosters from prior to 1992, but don’t hold your breath on that either.

That's about all I've got. The last register of active officers I have is 1971 and he's shown as still a Captain. The oldest listing of retired Flag Officers I have is for 2000. Any listing older than that got trashed in 2000 rather than moving them. Sorry I can't give you more.

Marcus -

Okay. And I'll go back and edit them out of previous posts.

Who says I'm hard to get along with? :D
