It's a Gilford 1680T and is taken in Occupied Jersey.

Hi uncle,
That one looks like an AEC Regal with Belgian or Dutch coachwork:

Max & Uncle

This is a British built AEC Regal - not sure of the bodybuilder yet but definetly British!

The image posted by Uncle is a Leyland TS6 or TS8 again with British bodywork - I think the civilian number plate is still below he driver's cab window above the "WH". I wonder if a higher res scan may reveal that?

I suspect both were captured at Cherbourg during Operation Dynamo in June 1940.

Thanks for posting! Keep the coming!

Hi uncle,
That one looks like an AEC Regal with Belgian or Dutch coachwork:
Bodywork by Metcalfe and believed to new as UK "JD 6472". Owner details to follow. Impressed by UK Government 1940 and believed catpured in northern France 1940.

Do you know where the photo was taken?

Unfortunately, bill, I have no idea where the photo was taken. Have you checked w/ Holger Erdmann at http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/? The photo is from his collection.

There are a number of photos of coaches around Brest and Cherbourg ports as well as abandoned British coaches around Dunkirk in 1940.

I can't find which units these belonged to and an OOB for the BEF lists:

No. 1 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 2 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 3 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 4 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 9 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 13 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps
No. 14 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Army Service Corps

I would guess these were equipped with trucks rather than coaches. So which units were operating coaches in the BEF?

Hi Sturm,
That's what I was thinking. It's close but different coachwork so I'm not 100%.

I'm not bus specialist, but four RB1346s were used in Warsaw before the war. The original coachwork was looking like that:
Mercedes-Benz_64.jpg
But after some time they were rebuilt into this:
Mercedes-Benz_65.jpg
I don't know other names than RB1346 for this body.
Hope this helps.
