Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hi Francy,
I think it is an US White truck. I don't know exactly the type (1064?). In the background a Matford tanker.

Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hi all,
Here you see the differences between the unknown tanker and a Belgium FN 63C (4x2) truck. I think that there are to much differences between both trucks that we can speak the unknown truck is an FN. Could it be that the unknown truck is coming out of one of the eastern europe countries?

Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hi All:
Th US White is a model 920. It is an ex French Contract vehicle that was diverted to the UK after the fall of France and in this case captured by the Germans.

Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hi Francy, Protze and Bill,
thank You Francy and Protze for the information and the interesting pics. Thank You bill for the ID of the White tanker. I´ve found a pic of a White tanker with two other tankers of US origin in the book of Vauvillier: L´automobile sous l´uniforme and some information.
250 of such White tankers (three axes and a capacity of 4.8oo gallons = 18.000 litres) were ordered by the French army, but in the archives there could not be found a figure yet, how many were delivered to France.
Regards
Bert

Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hi Protze,
to Your Beute tanker. I think You gave the decided tip to solve the question: a country in eastern Europe. It could be a tanker of the Polish airforce. Look at the typical sign over the lamp (the red-white quadrats). Please, compare it with the drawing of a Polish aircraft of these days: www.samoloty.ow.pl/rys/rys178.jpg , maybe produced by the Polish firm PZInz (Państwowe Zakłady Inżynierii). It could be the type 713, a COE type.
Regards
Bert

Re: Wehrmacht tankers
Hello Bert, hello protze.
I don't think that this tanker is a PZInz 713. The PZInz 713 was a 4ton lorry. This tanker is a smaller vehicle. I have made a larger cutout of the photo. Compare the size of the tanker to the Krupp Protze, a rather small vehicle. The marking on the tanker is not a Polish marking. It would make no sense to attach a Notek system and possibly other changes without repainting the vehicle. Apart from this, the same marking is barely visible on the left front fender of the Krupp Protze. So I think this vehicle remain as a mistery.
An other thought: This tanker looks a bit to modern and "luxurious" for the Polish airforce. My guess is that it could be Belgian, Dutch or Danish. Or possibly Norwegian?
Regards, Holger.
