Hi,

here a pic of a captured tanker type Matford. Interesting, that the German navy (Kriegsmarine) had tankers. Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction.

Regards

Here is another tanker, this time a Leyland Retriever. I also have seen very few Kriegsmarine tankers, perhaps used around dockyards?
Cheers,
Kerry.

A rather rare vehicle to find in the Kriegsmarine, I would think: a 1939 Mercury still in factory finish.

A great pic of a Großadmiral and his Adler Type 10. Is this Raeder or Dönitz? This is a nice car but I would have thought a Großadmiral would rate a Mercedes or Horch. Or perhaps he had several vehicles to choose from.

Nice duo, CCKW-353 and Borgward B3000, I think.

Image

The back states this:

Image

I deciphered it "Zum Holztransport in Preobrajenskaja", correct me if I'm wrong. The place in English transcription would be Preobrazhenskaya, or Преображенская in Cyrillic.
The only village with this name is in Stalingrad area, and the text on the back confirms this: all sources agree the firewood in this area, and the wood in general, was sparse and highly valued, being often transported from distant places.
Here it is:

So far so good. I wonder what Kriegsmarine has to do with the Steppes? :?

Hi ilfil,

really an interesting pic. Thanks for posting.
A little correction: it is a GMC ACK 353 and a Borgward 3-tonner type G.W.
The text: "Beim Holztransport in Probraźenskaja"

Thanks for the correction, Bert. Of course it is ACK. I was in a hurry, as always.
And I've never been good in those Borgwards ID. The same for my rusty Deutsch.
However, at least Preobrazhenskaya was nailed, better than nothing. :?
Thanks again.
Cheers!
