Hi Sturm,

Since the Pz. III has Polish Campaign cross the plate is probably Polish... I'd say civilian plate.

Maybe for the photo opportunity. The plate just seems to be leaning against the Notek lightpost... looks like an early date for a Notek.

I claim no expertise when it comes to registration plates, but maybe this well help even if it makes no sense to me as I also know next to nothing about armour.

In Walter Spielberger's book on vehicles of the Austrian Armed Forces, one can find dozens of photos where the military registration plates read "A XX XXX" the Xs representing numbers. The photos in his book look to my eyes exactly the same as the photo in question here on this thread.

How a Panzer III in Poland got an Austrian registration plate is far, far beyond my knowledge but as I said, all the ID clues fit.

Hi Bill,
Some Polish plates were also quite similar as shown by these Chevys.

Hi Markus:

I could not make out the plate on the bus, but I will take your word for it.
Still, how would a Panzer III in Poland then have a Polish registration plate???

Always mysteries to be solved and we keep on.
