it's an LWS, short for LandWasserSchlepper
an vehicle designed to drive on Land and Water and to tow a floatin/swimming container on both water and land
not really an everyday vehicle

It´s a LWS (Land-Wasser-Schlepper) with a 300 HP/PS Maybach-engine. Only 21 vehicles were built (by Alkett & Sachsenberg).

If you look closely (windows, 2 chimneys) it is a different type that the LWS shown on the pictures posted by FRANCY RITTER on 03 Feb 2009 in this same thread. What was the complete designation of each of these types?

Hi,

the other type of the Land-Wasser-Schlepper (LWS) was built by Magirus, but only two vehicles. I´ll post a pic with both vehicles. The pic was taken in September 1943 on the Baltic sea. (source: Werner Oswald: Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer".

Regards

Bert
