Hi Sturm 78,

here another pic of this artillery wagon (source: ebay). The load capacity of this wagon: 36 shells of the 15 cm heavy field howitzer. On the wagon on Your pic You can see unit: 2./AR 56, second baterry of artillery regiment 56. The first batallion of this regiment had heavy field howitzers and was detached to the 20. ID mot. (20th infantry division motorized).
And then You can see the designation of the wagon: s. Mun. Wg. (schwerer Munitionswagen - heavy ammunition wagon. Unfortunately You cannot see the following Af. 5 (Artilleriefahrzeug 5 - artillery vehicle 5).

Best regards

Bert

Hi Sturm 78,

the first pic is very interesting. Thanks for posting. It is a captured French field wagon model 1887. Here a pic of such a wagon (source of the pic: http://atf40.1fr1.net/t11088-fourgon-modele-1887). The German captured a lot of them. The German designation was: Schwerer Feldwagen M. 87 (f).

Best regards

Hi all,

In this Hf.7 you can read Gr. Gefechts Wg.2 Hf.7/11.

Does somebody know the different sub variants of the Hf.7 wagons and his purposes?

Hi Sturm 78,

an interesting question! I could only find the information, that there were the types
Hf. 7/11 großer Gefechtswagen (large ammunition and weapons wagon),
Hf. 7/13 großer Fahnenschmiedwagen (large blacksmith wagon) and
Hf. 7/14 Waffenmeisterwagen (armorer-artificer wagon) (source: "Bespannte Fahrzeuge des deutschen Heeres bis 1945" by Wolfgang Fleischer.

On Holgers site there is another designation:

Hf. 7 schwerer Gefechtswagen - heavy combar wagon
Munitionswagen - Ammunition wagon
Sanitätsgerätwagen - Medical equipment wagon
Gepäckwagen - Luggage wagon
Vorratswagen - Stock wagon

Hf. 7/11: großer Gefechtswagen - large combar wagon

Hf. 7/13: großer Fahnenschmiedwagen - large blacksmith wagon

Hf. 7/17: Waffenmeisterwagen - Armourer wagon

Best regards

Bert

Thank you for your help, Bert.

According to this numbering I suppose that must there were at least 14 different sub variants of the Hf.7 wagon.... 8O

Hi Sturm 78,

thanks for Your reply, but I don´t think, that there were so many variants. Please, have a look at the sub-variants of the Hf. 1 wagon. Here You can see, that there also was a similar numbering beginning with 11:
Hf. 1/11 großer Gefechtswagen (large ammunition and weapons wagon),
Hf. 1/13 großer Fahnenschmiedwagen (large blacksmith wagon) and
Hf. 1/14 Waffenmeisterwagen (armorer-artificer wagon)
Hf. 1/15 Packwagen für Sanitätskompanie (pack wagon for the medical company)
Hf. 1/16 Bäckereigerätwagen (bakery equipment wagon)
Hf. 1/18 Truppensanitätswagen (medical wagon)

Best regards

Hi Raúl,

an interesting pic! Thanks for posting! But that´s not a (homemade?) horse-drawn Sanka like the caption says, but a vehicle with two connected Infanteriekarren If. 8 (infantry cart). Here three pics of such a combination.

Regards

Bert
