Re: ► Photothread: Field Kitchens in Context
Hi Bert,
Yes I recognize those as Hf. 11 but those chimneys look conical to me, wider at the bottom. Those on the previous Hf.12 and Sturm78's pics look cylindrical having straight sides all the way. That raised my question. Possibly some Hf.11's were upgraded with the newer chimneys?

Hi Max,
that´s really an interesting question and I think You are right. And there were fieldkitchens with only one compartment of the coffee maker instead of the two compartments of earlier versions on the left side, but with the old chimney. Here three pics for comparing.
Best regards
Bert

I'm very positive that Image 1 is a Sd.Ah.401, not a Hf.14 as Max suggests. Notice the 14 horizontal holes on the rear plate, above and below the operating instructions. Hf.14's have 11 holes on the bottom row and 9 on the top. The different fire doors, rear lights and the levelling jack on the left side, all point to a Sd.Ah.401.

During the American Civil War some Union officers were jealous of Gen. Grant's close relationship with President Abraham Lincoln and complained to Lincoln that Grant drank too much. Lincoln responded by saying "Well, find out what he's drinking and send a barrel of it to all my other Generals."dirk Peeters wrote: ↑04 Oct 2018, 11:10If this were belgian soldiers
