here a pic of a unknown vehicle on rails. It seems to be a field modification; may be of a Russian GAZ. (Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Hi Aleks,
You are right, it is civilian registration plate: either "IV" for the district Chemnitz or "V" for the district Zwickau, both in Saxony.

Hi
I assume that this is an early SdKfz 222 with removed turret or or an early SkKfz 223 with also no turret and antenna removed
why both early? look at the front hatches, only early vehicles had similar seized openings, later vehicles had asymmetrical ones
since the upper deck or the engine compartment is not visible, I think it's hard to tell which version of the SdkKfz 222/223 it could be
perhaps can the numberplate bring in some light...

perhaps from Bulgaria?!?!?....I don't know...
